Kingmambo’s best racing son at stud in the Southern Hemisphere, MALHUB, got his stallion career off to a flyer this weekend. The Royal Ascot Golden Jubilee Sprint (Gr.1) ace and vanquisher of World Champion, Johannesburg, had his first two debutantes wet their feet at Kenilworth and Scottsville respectively, with the Backworth-bred Celebutante grabbing 2nd spot in KZN, while Inside Out made the frame in Cape Town.
The Malhubs never looked that precocious, we’d have to say, so anything banked at this early stage has to be a bonus. Nonetheless, as a 126 Timeform-rated son of one of the world’s most sought-after stallions, the portents look promising. So far, so good. Two runners, two in the money.
