Earlier this week, we penned a piece "It's never too late". Des Scott responded this morning. This is what makes him the sportsman he is. Pity we've lost the mould!

Dear Mick,

What a cheerful moment to get your email and blog.

Jacky has printed them, and I am reading them and feeling both honoured and humbled.

With a bit of luck, the Man Upstairs is listening and we have an Epsom moment!

Your blog reminds me of some lines from William Shakespeare, from my Isipingo Amdram days.

”If all the year were playing holidays,
To sport would be as tedious as to work:
But when they seldom come, they wished-for come,
And nothing pleaseth but rare accidents.”
- King Henry IV Part 1 (Act 1, Scene 2)

This racing of ours is a tough old game. So a win like this, after all these years, is indeed very sweet.

I enjoyed the trip down memory lane - wonderful times and great friends.

Next year in April, I am 89 - close enough!!

Thanks for celebrating our win. Much appreciated.

I will pass on congratulations from yourself to the other connections.

I am very grateful to my friend William Haggas. His input as trainer is quite exceptional.

Wishing you all the best.
