VODACOM DURBAN JULY GALLOPS

Greyville, 26 June 2014

Summerhill Stud is a hive of activity at this time of the year, as we count down to the Big Days ahead. The School of Excellence Students managed to take some time out of their busy schedule, and enjoyed a fantastic outing on Thursday. They were lucky enough to attend the July Gallops at Greyville, which is a traditional and very popular feature of the Vodacom Durban July. The gallops, which are now a condition of entry for the country’s greatest horse race, provided the students a final chance to see all the runners in action before the big day, and Gold Circle served a delicious breakfast in the recently refurbished Panaromic Room.

We rounded the morning off with a tour of the Equi-Feeds horse feed manufacturing facility as part of the Equine Nutrition lecture. Our grateful thanks to Afresh Vention nutritionist, Diederick Labuschagne, for his time and effort.

There is also much excitement among the students at the School with the imminent start of the Winter Workshop. The School of Equine Management Excellence will be hosting the annual CATHSSETA Winter Workshop on Monday the 7th and Tuesday the 8th of July, and once again there is an amazing array of speakers to look forward to. Visit "Winter Workshop" for programme details.
