Following the 48th Annual International Conference of Horseracing Authorities held on Monday at the Jockey Club in Paris, Louis Romanet, IFHA Chairman and Juan Carlos Capelli, Longines' Vice President and Head of International Marketing, presented the second "Longines and IFHA International Award of Merit" to Alec Head.

Romanet said, "The Head family has been involved in the racing industry for more than 100 years. The Heads are active horsemen. There really may be no other person other than Alec Head that better embodies the accomplishments, values and excellence that the International Award of Merit represents." 

Capelli said, "His experience and dedication to horse racing are a true inspiration for all of us and his award is fully deserved." 

Jim Bolger was the inaugeral recipient of the award last year.
