EMPERORS PALACE READY TO RUN GALLOPS
Summerhill Stud, South Africa
11 October 2013
His natural affinity for horses and a smart mind, has seen Ricardo Christian progress quickly through the ranks at Summerhill. A keen racing man like most of us, he has an incurable bias for graduates of the farm, but for as long as they keep winning championships, it’s an approach you can’t fault. Now riding master in the Ready To Run team, we’ve discovered an able mentor for the best assembly of Ready To Run riders in the land. These are Ricardo’s selections for what he considers the best colt and filly for next year’s Ready To Run Cup:
Lot 196: Unnamed (Western Winter x Maritime Mist) Chestnut Filly
Lot 196: Unnamed (Western Winter x Maritime Mist)
A lovely big filly of great strength and a grand action, she hails from one of the very best Lammerskraal families, including Horse of the Year Yard Arm. Her mother won five races, while her champion sire, Western Winter, earned his lofty status with Group One winners from 1000 metres to 3200 metres, including this past season, the champions What A Winter and Capetown Noir.
Lot 27: Crete (Kahal x Shoe Dance) Bay Colt
Lot 27: Crete (Kahal x Shoe Dance)
A typical son of Kahal, he has great size and substance, a carbon copy of his Stakes-winning own brother Fenerbahce. Kahal is another who’s thrown Group One winners from 1000 to 3200 metres, including the past season’s S.A.Classic (Gr.1) hero, Love Struck.
