“It’s a sign of his complete dominance

of the stallion scene right now…”

None of Galileo’s fans would be surprised to see him heading the list of Northern Hemisphere stallions ranked by Group One winners in 2012, but even his most ardent fans would be surprised at the fact that he has more than double the score of his closest pursuer. It’s a sign of his complete dominance of the stallion scene right now, with a good part of the season still to go.

While Galileo stands head and shoulders ahead of anything else, there will be encouragement for supporters of the Summerhill stallion, Admire Main, that a son of Sunday Silence (Deep Impact) is in joint second, while for those who are attending Friday’s unveiling of Drakenstein’s new stallion, Philanthropist, there’ll also be comfort in the ranking of Arch, who shares a fatherly connection with Philanthropist through Kris S.

The Drakenstein team have already displayed their intuitive talents in plucking Trippi from the clutches of American breeders, and in Philanthropist, who already has a Canadian champion in his first crop, they’re looking for a repeat. For those who have plans to make use of him this year, we understand he’s a typically big, strong, raw-boned Roberto type, who can be relied upon to add substance and size to his progeny. The show kicks off at 4:30pm.
