Sales watchers of the past few seasons, will have “checked” Summerhill’s policy of including some choicely bred southern hemisphere youngsters in our annual drafts. As part of our ongoing thrust in that direction, we witnessed the arrival Friday morning of three sons by a trio of world renowned stallions : Elusive Quality is remembered as the sire of American racing sensation, Smarty Jones, as well as stand-out young stallion, Elusive City. Fusaichi Pegasus was the stand-out yearling of the world in his year, and he went on to become the stand-alone three-year-old of the United States; while Hussonet is arguably the stand-out stallion of the past thirty years in South America.

Friday morning’s arrival included a stand-out son of each of these fellows, destined for next year’s Emperors Palace National Sale. Trafalgar Legacy’s debut victory a few weeks ago for Basil Marcus, reminds us of the “picking” prowess of the Summerhill team. He was a R2,2million graduate of last year’s Emperors Palace Ready To Run (by Rock Of Gibraltar), and looking at the pedigrees, we’ve shifted gear a bit with the “new” fellows.
