“THE GODS ARE NOT CRAZY”

You always need some encouragement when you approach a sale, particularly when you’ve got more than 100 entries slated for the 8th November’s Ready To Run. But the day before is no less significant as it heralds the running of the R1,5million Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup (yes, as promised, the fourth richest race in the country), and we’ve seen some proper prospects in the past few weeks.

Before we deal with the latest to put up their hands, it’s been a week of celebrations for our Ready To Run graduates. Early last week, Vangelis chalked up his ninth victory from 18 starts, Pick Six’s own sister, Dancer’s Delight, joined him on the same day on the winners podium, and Saturday saw Arewehavingfunyet post a facile victory for Sean Tarry.

You’d have thought that would be a week’s work well done, but Robin BrussFox Hunt recorded his fifth victory in the big one at Borrowdale Park, and back at Scottsville on Woman’s Day, it turned out to be exactly that. Two second timers, the Kahal fillies Mannequin and Fisani, gave notice to any pretenders to this year’s R1,5million Emperors Palace Ready To Run prize, that they’d have their hands full, with extraordinary performances, Mannequin over the minimum trip for Paul Matchett and Fisani at 1400m for Mike de Kock. The one has blistering speed, the other, a sister to big race performers Catmanduand Ecole Militaire, looking like a classic sort in the making, the kind to suit the celebrated style of her trainer.

Six big winners from the Ready To Run in just the second week of the new season, you couldn’t ask for more of an advertisement for the excellence of the sale and its products.
