(Greig Muir)

After a relatively quiet spell, Summerhill super sire, Kahal, has had a good last few weeks. His good luck began with his progeny taking the laurels, and three out of the first four places, in the KZN Breeders 1600 (listed) last Sunday at Clairwood.

Last week, it was the turn of 2005 Ready To Run graduate Emir who recorded his fourth career win with an impressive performance in the PSL Soccer 6 Merit Rated 89 Divided Handicap over 1400m at the Vaal. Riding near the back for most of the race, Emir, under the expert guidance of Champion jockey, Mark Khan, hit the front with 200m to go and never looked back. What made the win all the more sweeter was the fact that the Alexander’s achieved a hat-trick, with their runners taking the first three spots.
