British-bred Dancer’s Daughter produced a top-class performance to land the prestigious Gr.1 Paddock Stakes at Kenilworth in on the weekend. The grey four-year-old daughter of Shadwell Stud-based Act One, skipped clear of her rivals to win the fillies and mares’ race by three lengths from the locally-bred pair Carry On Katie (Western Winter) and Captain’s Lover (Captain Al).
Bred at Catridge Farm Stud by Mrs Diana Joly, Dancer’s Daughter was bought by Blandford Bloodstock for 52,000gns at Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Part One. A half-sister to the Gr.3 Somerville Tattersall Stakes winner Diktatorial, she is not the first of her family to have made an impact in South Africa. Her second dam’s half sister Icona (Green Dancer) was the Champion Stayer in South Africa in 1991, winning the Gr.1 Natal Newspapers Gold Cup, the country’s premier staying race.
