stephen gillStephen GillThursday sees the arrival of Sheikh Mohammed’s emissary Stephen Gill, former Financial Manager to the Late His Highness Sheikh Maktoum al Maktoum Ruler of Dubai. Stephen’s new job since the passing of his former boss, is as the head of Rabbah Bloodstock, which holds the horses belonging to the close friends of the new Ruler His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum. Stephen is a treasured friend of the farm, and has achieved not inconsiderable success in his own right as a breeders. One of the first horses at Summerhill was Brock, who ran second in the Racing Association Handicap (Gr.2), as well as Majestic Sun, an 8 time winner of, among several other Stakes races, the Matchem Stakes (Gr.2) towards the end of last year. Stephen also part owns the celebrated race filly Selborne Park, the dam of one of the most exciting three year olds of the current season, Desert Links, whom Basil Marcus rates as a J&B Met contender later in the year.

Stephen presides over the newly formed Darley South Africa Trust, a creation of Sheikh Mohammed about which we’ll be writing more in the aftermath of Stephen’s visit.
