FOR YEATS Connections of Thursday’s G1 Ascot Gold Cup winner Yeats (Ire) (Sadler’s Wells) have yet to decide on whether he will return to Flemington for the Nov. 6 G1 Emirates Melbourne Cup. Susan Magnier and Diane Nagle’s six-year-old was seventh in the Australian showpiece last year, and John Magnier is focusing on a third Gold Cup. “They say that he’s got quicker in his work at home and it looked like that in the race, so maybe we don’t have to be as aggressive with him as we were last year”, Magnier said yesterday. “With regard to the future, we are just trying to decide whether he will go to Melbourne or not. The young ones want him to go and David [Nagle] and I don’t, as the ultimate aim is to have him back here next year if we can keep him in one piece.”
