manduroManduro (Horsephotos)Baron Georg von Ullmann’s Manduro (Ger) (Monsun {Ger}) rewarded significant support to oust Dylan Thomas (Ire) (Danehill) in a thrilling finale to yesterday’s G1 Prince of Wales’s S. at Royal Ascot. He shaded that foe in the betting at 15-8 and lived up to those hopes. Manduro got first run under Stephane Pasquier at the top of the straight and was always keeping the Ballydoyle giant at bay to record a 1 1/4-length success. In so doing, he made amends for his third-place finish in this contest 12 months ago. “Last year he got boxed in and he’s a horse who needs some space,” trainer Andre Fabre commented. “It was an interesting lesson, and today Stephane had different conditions, with a clear run, a good pace and not many runners.”
