Extract from the Summerhill National Yearling Sales Brochure
Throughout the 2005 foaling season we came to work with the usual high expectations. As we’ve done for the past 28 years. This time though, it was different. Almost two thirds of the foals were fillies, and we had to find a means of balancing the books. It was the least we could do to satisfy our customers, because that’s what they’ve come to expect of us. If that meant getting up a little earlier, and thinking beyond the “box”, that’s what it would take.
The First World
Like Ulysses, we took ourselves off to a faraway land in search of something entirely different. No doubt that’s what you would’ve expected of us, and we came home with youngsters by some of the hottest young stallions in the World. Champion Sires Hussonet and Danehill Dancer, the new “legend” Rock of Gibraltar, World Champion Hawk Wing, and the elite racehorses, Dubai Destination and Catcher In The Rye. And just to make sure they grew up the Summerhill way, we brought them home when they were just months old.
So, there’s no need to go all the way to Sydney any longer, We’ve paid the transport, and we’ve saved you the airfare.
The Second World
Back at home, this farm and its people have been at it again, quietly moulding together a crop worthy of a legend that grows by the day. Progeny of the proven men that delivered the Premiership, Kahal, Muhtafal, and National Emblem, as well as Fort Wood and Al Mufti.
Already a substantial stallion success in America, Labeeb joins Malhub as a genuinely World Class performer with his first crop at the sales. And there’s more than a few judges in the same class who’ve already declared their intentions concerning these two and their stock.
