Visitors to this site following Mick Goss’ visit to the Royal Family of Lesotho, can pick up a bit of history today. His Majesty King Letsie III, one of Africa’s most respected Heads of State, and his wife, Queen Masenate, who had previously produced two daughters in Princesses Senate and Maseeiso, produced an heir last night. What a remarkable coincidence, and what a privilege to be present at so a historic occasion. Besides bringing the rain yesterday, Mick is being seen as a Talisman for the new dawn in Lesotho horseracing, where the tradition of the local people in the raising of their own unique breed of horses, goes back to the mid 1820s.
The Besotho people are the only nation in Africa with such an enduring and proud history with horses. Today’s visit to the racing capital of Lesotho, will form part of tomorrow’s report.
