It was a Ready to Run double in yesterday's R125k Drum Star Handicap [Listed] at Turffontein. The evergreen His Lordship (a 7-year-old gelding by Rambo Dancer out of Her Highness by Royal Prerogative) carried 59 kgs to victory and showed he had recovered well from a career threatening tendon injury last year. He held off another Summerhill Ready to Run graduate, Bayete (also another son of Rambo Dancer - a 5yo out of French Braid) who had given chase at the 300m mark.
The 1800 metres was run in a winning time of 111.15.
His Lordship is now an 8-time winner (including the Grade 2 Astrapak 1900) for owner and trainer Geoff Woodruff.
Speaking of Ready to Run success, last year's sale graduates continue to impress. Mzwilili (Muhtafal x Siren Song) won at just her second start last Friday. Meanwhile, Haizi (Kahal x Royal Princess) was beaten only 0.05 length - or in racing terms "a nose" - in her first start on the same day.
