Last week we posted the table of leading sires showing the pervasive influence of Danehill and Sadler’s Wells in Europe. This week we bring you the North American sires, principally because the breed-shaping stallions of the world are based largely in these two regions. In America, the two outstanding lines are the tribes of Mr Prospector and Storm Cat, and his sons, each of whom are represented five times in the top fifteen. At this time, Mr Prospector is slightly the more dominant, with two of the top four and three of the top seven (through sons of Forty Niner, Kingmambo, Unbridled’s Song and Machiavellian).
On the basis of the European list from last week and these American tables, it seems that our hunch in backing Danehill and Mr Prospector in the development of Summerhill’s future breeding strategies, is well-founded.
