The fields for the R500k Emperor’s Palace Ready To Run Cup and the R500k Charity Mile November Handicap follow.
Of interest to Summerhill followers is the fact brother and sister Emperor Napoleon & Bold Ellinore, are among the top weights for the big Cap, one of South Africa’s time-honoured major mile tests. We know too, that Mister de Kock was somewhat “miffed” at Khebraat’s elimination – like the other two, he’s by top young sire Kahal, and his conditioner apparently felt, at the weights he was a real runner. If pricing is anything to go by, Charles Laird’s Our Giant (by Giants Causeway) looks like the one to beat.
We all know what happened the last time a Summerhill-connected horse was eliminated from this race. It ended in the most celebrated match race in our history, a challenge between the November Handicap winner, Northern Princess (by our resident “king”, Northern Guest) and the victim of the elimination, the fabled champ, Senor Santa (also by Northern Guest) apparently because the handicapper felt he wouldn’t get the trip.
That’s all history now, and there’s new history going to be made on Saturday. Stick with us!
