foodCoincidentally, we received the news during the course of last evening that Hartford’s restaurant had made the top ten in South Africa. Just think about this though, in the context that four of them are based in the Cape Town / Winelands vicinity, four of them in Johannesburg and its Pretoria environs, and only two in the “sticks”. In our case, 10 kms outside the dustiest little “dorp” in the midlands of KZN!

Jackie Cameron, at the tender age of 25, and her youthful team of Kezia Duke, Fanie Wolff, Zandile Mchunu and Deli Hadebe have taken cooking to another level, and we can hardly come to terms with the fact that they are, by some distance, the youngest team ever to achieve this distinction.

Jackie CameronJackie CameronThat they should have done so in the same year as Summerhill achieved its hat-trick of Breeders’ Championships, speaks volumes for the quality of people we are so lucky to work with on the greater Summerhill estate, and bearing in mind that Vuma is the manufacturer of Africa’s finest horsefeeds as well, we hope our readers are beginning to get an appreciation of how significant an achievement this really is. Hartford’s restaurant must be one of the most remote anywhere, and to think they’ve attracted so abundant a concentration of talent into this little neck of the woods, is something of a miracle.
