The curtain has fallen on Day 2 at The Keeneland Yearling Sale and The European Bloodstock News reports:

In the late afternoon, the sale record was well and truly shattered when [John] Ferguson went to USD$11.7 million for a beautiful bay son of Kingmambo from Burleson Farms. Lot 425 is a full-brother to Ashaawes, a Godolphin three-year-old who won for the third time in four starts at the end of August, and is the second foal of the Stakes-winning Seattle Slew mare Crown of Crimson. Her three-parts sister Excellent Meeting won four Gr.1 events in the USA and is the dam of the Gr.3 runner-up Cougar Cat.

We’ve got two young stallions by Kingmambo in King’s Best and Dubai Destination, and we have Rule of Law going to stand in Japan, so he’s a stallion that’s been very successful for us,” Ferguson reported.

Less than 2 months ago a world record price for a foal/weanling was smashed in Japan when a grand daughter of Kingmambo soldfor USD$5.27m.

That’s what being related to Kingmambo does for value.
