25 year old Wayne David has joined the SA Equine Trade Council (SAETRAC) as assistant to Peter Gibson. Durban-born Wayne has a broad-based business background and is presently completing his Diploma in Marketing and Management. Always interested in horseracing, Wayne has played a key role in assisting Gold Circle’s marketing department with the racing operator’s major events, the J&B Met and Voadacom Durban July. This post will allow Wayne the chance to widen his knowledge of South Africa’s equestrian industries and apply his business and marketing skills in serving the needs of South Africa’s international customers. The Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) has identified the need to develop black export managers and all Export Councils supporting this initiative will be eligible for Government funding. As awareness of South African bloodstock has increased, so has demand for information and SAETRAC hopes to improve the services provided from South Africa. In this respect, pedigree expert, Ada van der Bent, has been contracted to manage the SA Bloodstock and Racing page on Racing South Africa’s website: www.racingsouthafrica.com.
