(Image: JOHN LEWIS)‘The General’ added yet another graded stakes winner to this season’s tally when the Glen Kotzen trained VEILED ESSENCE (Muhtafal- Fovesta) trounced her opposition in the Gr 2 Dubai Racing Club Oaks (2400m) on All Stars Day at Clairwood.

The race held special significance to the Summerhill team who bred the filly. Mick and Cheryl Goss from Summerhill as well as Heather Morkel (CEO, Vuma Feeds) were on track to congratulate the connections of the 3 year old filly. In a unique twist, the Dubai International Racing Club’s South African representative - Katrina Partridge (Summerhill’s Business Development Manager) - presented the winner’s trophy to Glen Kotzen’s wife, Kathy, who accepted it on behalf of the owners.

It was an exciting day’s racing and Summerhill had much to celebrate with VEILED ESSENCE’s win, CARNADORE’s 3rd in The Gr 1 Champion’s Cup, INFINITE SPIRIT’S 4th in the Gr 1 Premier’s Champion Stakes, and BUY AND SELL’s 5 length victory in the Work Rider’s Maiden Plate - a race that says ‘thank you’ to those riders who put in the required (and often thankless) miles every morning.
