The arrival of daffodils has long been a signal at the farm that the first foals are due, and true to the script, just as the first yellow petals unfurled over the weekend so too did the first foal make an early appearance.

3 time winner DANCE ON SILVER (by Rambo Dancer) foaled down a beautiful KAHAL filly at just before midnight last night.

Mother and daughter are doing well - the leggy correct filly all alert ears and eyes when we went to visit her this morning.

DANCE ON SILVER was also born on the property and was sold at the 2001 Cape Yearling Sale for R75,000 to the bid of Charles Laird. For the pedigree buffs, the foal that was born this morning is bred on the same cross as 2 very dominant winners over the past 3 days: LONDON BALLET (KAHAL – CITIDANCER) 1st by 2.25 lengths in time of 98.87 [Ready to Race graduate] and EMPEROR NAPOLEON (KAHAL – ELLINORE) 1st by 3.5 lengths in time of 98.09 (with another 7.5 lengths between 2nd and third). EMPEROR NAPOLEAN is a brother to Kahal’s multiple group winning daughter BOLD ELLINORE.  He was born, broken in and pre-trained at Summerhill.
