In the ancient scheme of things the African landscape
was shaped by the animals that roamed its great plains, by the sun and
the fires that baked it and by the rains that soaked and the breezes
that caressed it. Man's intervention has intruded on much of that, yet
Africa's people are still of the soil.
None more so than at Sumerhill where our respect for the organic and
the natural is everywhere to be seen. The careful interaction between
man and the ground, bird and beast and stock and crop is vitally significant
to our management practices and the balancing if our commercial demands
with thos of Mother Nature. The thriving wild animal and plant life
juxtaposed within the realm of one of Africa's most productive Agricltural
estates is a complement to a policy which has as its principal aim the
preservation of this heritage for the generations to come. Small wonder
then that year after year, providence rewards us with wonderful weather,
record crps, Champion animals and a liberal dose of all that is god
about life at the Southernmost Tip of the World's Oldest Continent.
